More and more, companies are improving their protection, and users are becoming more aware of these threats.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"> However, as we mentioned, this doesn\u2019t guarantee that we won\u2019t be attacked or that an attack won\u2019t succeed. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Having <a href=\"https:\/\/news.microsoft.com\/es-xl\/para-enfrentar-al-cibercrimen-hay-que-adoptar-la-confianza-cero\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">recovery measures in place is essential<\/a> to respond to such attacks and restore our infrastructure to the state it was in immediately before the attack. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">But is that enough? Is simply recovering our data enough for everything to be forgotten?<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.abd.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/web1.png\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-23565\" src=\"https:\/\/www.abd.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/web1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1003\" height=\"408\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>The Importance of Restoring a Company\u2019s Digital Reputation After a Cyberattack<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">After an attack, there are moments of uncertainty and doubt, as we don\u2019t fully know the consequences or the extent to which our systems have been affected. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Everything becomes clearer in the medium term, once we have spent some time working with the restored systems. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Another aspect we need to devote time to is understanding <a href=\"https:\/\/www.diariodesevilla.es\/tecnologia\/reputacion-compania-ciberataque-irreparable-definitivo_0_1733228923.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">how an attack of this kind affects the company\u2019s reputation<\/a>. <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">This is what\u2019s known as the <strong>Company\u2019s Digital Reputation<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">A cyberattack can harm us in different ways, the most important being:<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Business interruption.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Website or online store outage.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Failure of technological services such as email, online payments or collections, invoicing, etc.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Inability to access important company documents.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">All of this can be aggravated if the cyberattack also involves financial fraud or an inability to recover data due to missing or faulty backups, or a lack of means to rebuild our network infrastructure.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">On the other hand, let\u2019s imagine everything went well after the cyberattack\u2014we recovered our data, suffered no financial fraud, and our systems are working properly.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><strong> Digital Reputation at Risk<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">It\u2019s very likely that during the time systems were down, some clients, suppliers, or individuals who wanted to contact our company were unable to do so and became aware of the cyberattack.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"> This can cause serious damage to the company\u2019s image\u2014sometimes even more severe than the business interruption itself\u2014because it directly impacts the company\u2019s reputation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.abd.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/web2.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-23566\" src=\"https:\/\/www.abd.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/web2.png\" alt=\"Reputaci\u00f3n Digital de la Empresa tras un Ciberataque\" width=\"1018\" height=\"652\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">But not all is lost. <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">What can we do to recover from that bad image?<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong> Recovering the company\u2019s digital reputation<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"> There are several ways to do this, and it all comes down to researching on the web and trying to counter negative comments and clean up our image:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>Review the information published on our company\u2019s website.<\/strong> An important task is to make sure our company is not associated with negative comments that could affect our daily operations. Search using the company\u2019s name, look for websites that might compromise our image, and identify associations with harmful elements. This investigative task can be done even if we have not been attacked and serves as good image hygiene for our company.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>Identify fake news about the company.<\/strong> Another form of attack is spreading false news about our company. This may come from a competitor trying to damage our reputation and gain an advantage in our sector. It often happens even if we haven\u2019t been attacked, so we must stay alert and counter these stories by debunking them.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>Use legal resources, make our defenses known.<\/strong> All this aims to restore our reputation. A cyberattack can even serve as an opportunity to be reborn and show that, although we were attacked, we managed to carry on without suffering major consequences and without any data breaches that could impact third parties.
