(Source<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/learn.microsoft.com\/en-us\/dynamics365\/business-central\/dev-itpro\/administration\/migrate-data\" target=\"_self\"> <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Microsoft<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">)<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><b>Main Components of Migration<\/b><\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-19202 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.abd.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/Migrar-BC-Cloud.png\" alt=\"\u00bfC\u00f3mo gestionar la migraci\u00f3n a Business Central en la nube?\" width=\"596\" height=\"297\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.abd.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/Migrar-BC-Cloud.png 596w, https:\/\/www.abd.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/Migrar-BC-Cloud-300x149.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 596px) 100vw, 596px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\" class=\"translation-block\"><b>Local database<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">: This database is the local SQL Server database or an Azure SQL database that stores business data for companies to migrate to the cloud.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\" class=\"translation-block\"><b>A key component of data migration is Azure Data Factory:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> <a href=\"https:\/\/learn.microsoft.com\/es-es\/azure\/data-factory\/introduction\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Azure Data Factory is a managed cloud service<\/a> designed to migrate large volumes of raw data between data sources and to manage data integration projects.<br> <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br> <\/span>Azure Data Factory migrates data directly between the on\u2011premises and online environments. In other words, it does not analyze any permissions within the applications between which it is transferring data\u2014only SQL permissions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\" class=\"translation-block\"><b>Pipelines are the main elements of Azure Data Factory<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. Pipelines are groupings of activities that copy, move, and transform data, and also organize its flow.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>The \"Integration Runtime\" component is the computing infrastructure of Azure Data Factory.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> There are two instances of Integration Runtime in the end-to-end process.\u00a0<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The first instance securely copies data from the on-premises environment to the cloud, where the pipelines are created. If the local database is a SQL Server database, use a self-hosted integration runtime. This runtime is installed locally on the local network and registered in Azure Data Factory.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If the local database is an Azure SQL database, Azure Integration Runtime is used. In addition, <\/span><b>record links<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> are not currently migrated because they are associated with a user ID, and users are not transferred from the on\u2011premises environment to the online tenant.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3><b>How is the data migrated?<\/b><\/h3>\n<p class=\"translation-block\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In general,<\/span><b> data is migrated table by table.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Depending on their size, tables can also be combined and migrated together for performance reasons. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In any case, the success and failure of the migration is tracked for each table. After the initial migration, only changes to the data will be migrated, resulting in faster iterations.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is not necessary to run the migration process more than once.
