Microsoft 365 Users Tip: meeting with members of a Teams channel

The day has arrived. We've attended many Teams meetings to which we've been invited and simply by clicking a link we've joined without problems. Others have handled inviting attendees and preparing the meeting. But today, the case arises where I need to start a meeting myself. I have to find the meeting attendees, schedule the date and time, and ensure that all the people I need to invite receive the invitation and confirm their attendance.

If faced with the previous case, it would suffice to go to the Teams calendar and set up the meeting, but we'd have to search for users and add them. That's the normal procedure for this type of case. But from these lines, we're going to show a more efficient way to create and organize meetings from Teams: and more specifically, from a Teams channel.

A very common practice among companies using Microsoft 365 is to create Teams teams. This is a way to group and optimize work among users with common interests or who work on joint projects. In turn, within teams we can create channels to further specify these tasks. Normally, these channels will have access permissions for the necessary people and not necessarily all those who have permissions to see the entire team. Well, at this point, we're going to show how to create meetings with the people from a channel with virtually no effort.

To do this, we need to access our Teams channel within the team. In this case, we access the "Ventas Sur" channel in the "Ventas en España" team.

We have our reasons for holding a meeting with the participants of this channel, either to discuss an urgent matter or to schedule a meeting for the future. To do this, we need to go to the top right of the screen, once inside the channel, and use the "Meet" option. If we click the arrow, we see two options appear: "Meet now," which will make a real-time call to all channel members; or "Schedule a meeting," which will allow us to schedule the meeting for another time or day.

In the case of "Meet now," the system will welcome us to the meeting:

Pantalla de unirse a reunión.

And when clicking "Join now," the system gives us the option to copy the link to send to whoever we want, or add participants.

Pantalla para añadir asistentes.

If we click "Add participants," the channel members will appear as suggestions, making it easier to select meeting participants.

Sugerencia de asistentes.

If we go back to the previous step and instead of selecting "Meet now" we select "Schedule a meeting," the interface for scheduling the meeting will appear with the channel members already joined by default. We just need to set the date and time of the meeting and a title.

We've shown how to create a meeting with the members of a Teams channel quickly and easily. Many times we waste time creating a meeting because we're not sure who to invite, how, or where to get the attendees from. With this method we've shown, it's easy, and organizing a meeting becomes immediate and hassle-free.
