How to set up an out‑of‑office status in Office 365

At this time of year, most people choose to take their holidays to rest and disconnect.

To avoid losing track of work and to make others aware that you are out of the office, today we will look at how to set up the out‑of‑office reply in Office 365.

To do this, we will go to the Start menu on our computer.

Escritorio con inicio

Once we have the Start menu open, we will look for our Outlook application.

Busqueda de outlook en inicio

Once we have located and opened Outlook, we will go to File in the upper left corner.

apartado de archivo

Once inside the File menu, we will find several options in the central part of the screen, including Automatic Replies, which is the one we will use.

When we click on it, a window will open with several parameters to fill in.

As we can see, the automatic reply option is disabled, so we need to check the box to enable automatic replies.

As we can see in the configuration options, we can set it to start on a specific day and end automatically. The ideal setup is to indicate the day your vacation begins and the day you return.

Once the date on which we want the automatic reply to take effect has been set, all that remains is to create the message we want to send to users who email us while we are away.

Once we have chosen the message we want to set automatically, we will go to the tab that says “Outside my organization.” With this option, we will send replies to everyone who is not part of our company.

Inside this section, we will fill it in with another message or copy and paste the previous one. After that, all that remains is to click OK for the changes to take effect.
