Default SharePoint Sites Configuration

The corporate image of a company is very important to become known and associate an image with a brand.

A SharePoint site and its intranet is a good way to expose and publish that brand image, both for internal and external users. That's why having a common and defined image can help us become known and maintain our recognized identity with our customers and suppliers.

As we mentioned, SharePoint Online can offer us this, but to have an attractive and operational intranet we must start with the foundations. And an initial, very basic but very important task that we can do is to define who can create them, where to store them, and the regional configuration. 

Let's see where we can make these basic configurations that can save us some time when creating a SharePoint Online site.

Steps to Follow for SharePoint Sites Configuration

The first thing to do is access the SharePoint Admin Center. Once inside, we go to Settings and access "SharePoint/Site Creation".

Here the system offers us several options that we can adjust to facilitate the creation of SharePoint sites, all from a very simple but useful point of view, and which can avoid confusion if there are several Microsoft 365 administrators when creating the sites.

To start, and considering it's one of the main options we can control, it's allowing users to create SharePoint sites. If we uncheck the first option, we will restrict this permission to the organization's users.

Other aspects of interest are defining globally where to create groups, setting the default "Time zone" and the storage limit for new sites. Very interesting options that will help us specify an appropriate and corporate SharePoint Online creation environment for our organization.
