The first release of 2023 versions covers all the new features that will be launched to the market between April and September 2023. In today's article, we will provide general product information (you can download it from Trial versions) and the new and planned features for Dynamics 365 Business Central.
The first 2023 release wave also significantly improves support for managing numerous companies and presents enhancements in linked company features.
In this version, efficiency in tasks with record lists will be boosted and allows customizing columns, bulk actions, and full views.
Microsoft focuses primarily on developer and consultant productivity with Visual Studio Code AL Explorer. It also offers seamless collaboration via GitHub and self-service capabilities for administrators. More details coming soon in blogs.
Among the additional updates in the first 2023 release wave are included:
- Faster adaptation with Microsoft Power Platform: Setting up approval workflows in Business Central is easier, increasing productivity by automating more processes. Sample apps are also included to help Power Apps creators get started quickly.
- Application: In finance, linked company capabilities were improved and general ledger settlement was added. All countries can export SAF-T audit files. Business Central's supply chain was improved for more efficient warehouse and inventory management.
- Countries and regions: more countries and regions have been added to offer Business Central in over 100 countries and regions.
- Development: We have migrated to Visual Studio Code to improve developer productivity. Visual object designers allow consultants to create simple per-client extensions. There is also better compiler resource management and code analyzer performance. We are modernizing the permissions system to make it easier to define and maintain understandable permissions.
- Governance and administration: Business Central provides an additional set of self-service features to help administrators manage their environments.
- Legislation: this version introduces support for non-deductible VAT in the W1 version, which will be updated to country versions in upcoming minor releases.
- Onboarding: organizations can reach productive use of the app faster thanks to improved in-app guidance and user assistance.
- Productivity with Microsoft 365: improving the effectiveness of Microsoft Teams collaborative business processes.
- Reports and data analysis: adding a new mode on list pages to allow users to analyze and dynamize data directly in the client.
- Service and platform: continuing to focus on service fundamentals, with special emphasis on performance, stability, resource governance, security, and compliance.
