Microsoft presents FABRIC, new data analytics platform in the AI era

Microsoft Fabric was presented on May 23, a new data platform designed to gather, organize, and analyze data, ultimately acting on it. The goal is to have a large virtual warehouse, a data lake (OneLake), with which we can not only perform our business intelligence with Power BI but also easily perform business intelligence to predict trends, real-time analysis, etc.

In the digital era where the world is flooded with data and constantly moving with the use of devices and applications, data becomes even more important in the era of Artificial Intelligence (AI). Most organizations have data from multiple disconnected and unorganized providers, requiring significant effort in money and time to make all that data work together.

Fabric is born as a unified and comprehensive platform that brings together all the data and necessary tools in organizations. It integrates a series of technologies such as Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, and Power BI to leverage the potential of their data and be the starting point for AI use.

Fabric comes along with OneLake, a multi-cloud SaaS data lake that is integrated and available for every Fabric tenant.

It also consists of all these components:

  • Data Factory
  • Synapse Data Engineering
  • Synapse Data Science
  • Synapse Data Warehousing
  • Synapse Real-Time Analytics
  • Power BI
  • Data Activator
