Ownership Change in Microsoft Dynamics Business Central

The set of ownership‑change functionalities developed by our team makes it possible to replace the sales and billing customer in sales documents—such as invoices, shipments, and credit memos—with a new customer code, automatically updating their fiscal and address information.

The invoice’s payment method and payment terms will remain unchanged.

Changing the customer on the invoice does not modify the customer on the related shipment documents. If necessary, each shipment must be updated individually using this same procedure.

Date Changes in Invoices – Microsoft Dynamics Business Central

From the Navigate page opened from a sales document, a New Posting Date field and an Update button are available within the Date Change tab.

After entering the new date and selecting the button, a process updates the posting date across all records related to that sales transaction.

Assumptions / Out of Scope

The invoice must not contain any cash‑management–processed documents (included in remittances, recirculated, or re‑posted through a journal), as the customer will not be updated in those cases. The VAT scheme will not be modified when changing the customer. Therefore, if the VAT regime of the new customer differs from that of the original one (for example, domestic vs. intra‑community), this functionality should not be used. Instead, the invoice must be reversed and a new one issued to the correct customer.
